1993 Aspencade

My Goldwing is difficult to start after it sits for a couple of days. I have performed all of the component checks according to the Clymer manual. The pump has good flow. The only test I have not performed is the vacuum test on the "auto fuel valve," I can't find a pump to borrow or rent and the local Honda shop says they can't test it if it is off the bike. This doesn't sound right to me. I have noticed that when the bike sits for a couple of days the fuel drains out of the filter back into the tank. Does the auto fuel valve have any thing to do with this? If so I can rebuild the valve. Also, I have had problems with the bike dying in hot weather. I would release the fuel cap (it would seem to have vacuum) and it would start. I fixed the fuel cap and it continued to have this issue, though not as bad. Could both of these issues be caused by the auto valve?

Try by-passing the valve and see if the bike runs okay without it. The valve is there just to shut off the fuel when the bike is turned off. If it runs okay then the valve or the vacuum line from the engine is bad.

Thanks for the info on the Auto Fuel Valve. I took the valve apart and found that thee vacuum port was stopped up. I open the blockage and all seems to be well. Again thanks for your assistance.
