Windshield removal 1994 GL1500 SE

Postby Cook1500 » Tue Apr 12, 2011 8:56 am

Just recently bought this GW and would love to clean the inside lower portion of the windshield. Any suggestion on the removal. As of yet I do not have a service manual. My particular windshield does adjust up and down but I'm not sure how to remove it. Any assistance would be appreciated.

This is what you need to do. Far easier than explaining it. The mirror screws can be a pain especially if you don't have the Japanese spec screwdrivers.

"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

I'm a recent owner of the Goldwings. I'm sure I will be back on this forum. What a huge advantage to have a place like this.
Thanks a bunch to cbx4evr for the diagram, I would have torn some stuff up. A service manual is a must and I plan on getting one immediatley.

Hi, In addition to the windshield removal directions, Sometimes the windshield mounting screws are almost impossible to remove, I found that a hand impact screwdriver with a couple of light taps with a hammer works every time.

The windshield removal directions are great, however they don't show the rubber boot. It can be folded back, turned halfway inside out. Also folding the mirror back will help you see the screws. If you decide to take the mirrors off(not necessary) then you can give the boots an extra good cleaning and ArmourAll them before re-installation.
