Ken Heming http://mysite.ncnetwork.net/resp3jbj/ rebuilds and sells all types, but you may just need brushes.
You can just buy the parts and take it to a local alternator shop if you don't want to rebuild it yourself. I would order a dampener kit to install while the alternator is out. http://www.cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/129/29165 Good Luck

Thanks, I called him yesterday and he said a local was going to rebuild it for a little over $100.

Just in case you still need an alternator, I have a used one that I removed off my 99 only because I triked it and added a Comp-Fire at around 51,000 miles.
I also have a new one that I used to keep in my trailer just in case when we travelered a lot. I will take $150 for used one and $275 for new one. Plus shipping.

If you feel good at it one can get a set of brushes and do a repair for under $10. When mine went out I got a new high output replacement. Took old one to starter rebuilder and for $4 each got brushes. About an hour later it is ready for another 22 years.
