Removing the fairings to fix the radiator?

Post by saxonsraven1 » Sun May 15, 2011 12:27 pm

Hello all:
I have a 88 1500 Wing that is in fair shape but I now have a problem. I started her up on the stand and let her run for about 15 mins.
I then noticed after not checking the gauges that steam was rising from the fairings. I immeadiately turned the wing off and waited for any signs of damage. The fluid was all over the floor so I assumed major problem with the radiator, hoses or both. I would like to know which but do not know how to get the fairings off to see, which ones come off first anybody know or can show me how?

You would do well to get some sort of manual as there is a lot of plastic that has to come off and in the proper order.

You can try this link
"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

There's several different possibilities that could cause a coolant leak but FYI you don't have to remove the
fairing just to remove the radiators.
I'd be a good idea to purchase/download a manual.
