GL1500 hard to shift into 2nd-sometimes!

Post by Wingrider1995 » Sun Jun 05, 2011 11:35 am

Any advice on a GL1500,1990, thats hard to shift into 2nd gear part of the time. Clutch fluid levels are good, bled the fluid.. Any adjustments that can be made pretty much external to correct this or is it, tear-down the cases and go to shift forks etc???? any advice is appreciated..

Do you have the stock shifter or heeltoe shifter? :?: :?: :?: :?:
Does having a short mean that the wires doen't touch???

My 1990 was same, and I cured it by removing the heal-toe shifter and (most importantly) rebuilding the clutch slave cylinder.... That cyclinder was extremely cruded-up, and was probably barely moving before.

That being said, I notice that the bike requires more Pre-load on the shift lever (prior to pulling in the clutch) than does my 2000.
