correct way to check and adjust suspension pressure?

Postby child_of_fire » Fri Jun 10, 2011 9:33 am

hello,

what is the correct way to check and adjust the air suspension? i was told by another owner to check it only when the bike is on the center stand. when i fill to an appropriate number on the center stand and then but the bike on both wheels and re check i get a different number. it also seems to fluctuate when it is warm out. so what is the proper procedure i ask!

Best on level ground where you can firmly plant both feet, easy to air up or down set down and get a feel and find happy point. In most case there is no load on rear when it is on center stand. At just under 5' 8" if I adjust rear to 20psi on center stand and roll off stand my feet will not touch the ground. Must be in neutral to check and change.

That's the way the manual says to do it. Afterwards then fine tune the pressure to your preference.

When mine is on center stand and I am setting on bike it takes 40 psi or more for the rear wheel to make contact with the floor. Roll of stand and it reports more than 50 psi on console. Local dealer still recommends a flat stance to check unless you are physically challenged or tall enough to flat foot at max pressure.

thanks for the reply. i just thought that the seals could get damaged if you inflated it while sitting on it off the center stand.

The non air shock handles the weight of bike and the air shock handles comfort zone. Air compressor should stop before reaching the limits of shock.
