evaporative canister

Postby davidmring » Wed Jun 15, 2011 4:57 am

I am trying to find the location of the evaporative canister on a 1996 SE. I note a hose coming from the gas cap, down by the alternator. Just rebuilt the alternator and just find a hose leading from the gas cap down to drain on ground. Diagrams show a canister. Wonder where it would be located, and if it may have been removed. Any drawings of its location available?

California models are the only 1500s that have the canister. That tube from the gas cap is routed to the ground and is the cause of man made global warming. ;)

Thank you. I think my machine may have started on the west cost and slowly made it to the east coast, because there are several hoses plugged with y-s leading to nowhere and the bracket for the canister below the alternator. Thank you again, and I will continue to off-gas as usual, unless otherwise directed. I only noticed this when rebuilding the alternator. Now I now why other hoses have been plugged.

The hoses by the alt. that are plugged need to be drained once in a while. They will be full of liquid.
