Dyna Beads?

Postby reasonator » Mon Jun 20, 2011 10:43 pm

Has anyone tried these "wheel balancing beads" yet?

http://www.innovativebalancing.com/

Would love to hear some feedback!?

Have a look at this thread. I've had them in my bike tires now for just over a year, and I'm still thrilled with them - the ride is solid and smooth. I like them so much that I just last week ordered some more to install into my truck's tires, which can't seem to go more than a couple months without needing to be balanced again.

This is a highly discussed topic. Like Admin I have them in all my motorbikes and love them, but others have said that they didn't work for them.. For me it's simple physics so I can't see how it doesn't work, but even independent testers reached the conclusion that they are a bit hit or miss. On all my motorcycles I have not had any problem with vibration, so I take that to mean they work.. The main thing for me is I fit my own tyres and objected to paying someone to balance the wheel after I fitted the tyre (It meant a long drive, a long wait and extra expense to take the wheel somewhere to be balanced). Now I fit the tyre, install the beads and I am ready to refit the wheel and ride.. Very convenient and they work for me..

I would suggest you try them and see, if they don't work for you, you are only out $10-$15 and can get the wheel rebalanced, if they do work for you (As they do for Wingadmin and myself and many others) then you have a superior balancing system that is constantly rebalancing the wheel for maximum smoothness.

One of the other main benefits to Goldwing owners is that from what I have read, they go a long way to prevent cupping, which Goldwings are quite prone to.

Thanks guys, I do plan on trying them. I'm curious if you replace the beads with new rubber or do you reuse what you have? Do they breakdown over time?

They're ceramic, so they don't break down, but they do build up rubber and crud over time, so you'd have trouble getting them into a new tire, I think.

As wingadmin says, they are ceramic so they could be re-used (but they do pickup rubber and will rub against each other so not too sure how many times you could re-use them) but I don't.. I replace them each time I replace the tyre..

I have a friend with an '07 1800 who tried the beads in his Metzlers and didn't like them, he had them taken out and lead weights put back on. My bike shop said if I didn't like the beads they would re-balance my tires free, so I just put them in new Elite 3's on my '94 aspencade. I've put about 200 miles on the tires and so far and they ride great at 30mph and above. Below 30mph I detect a slight lope in the rear tire. This may not have anything to do with the beads, I don't know, but from 30mph to 100mph they are dead smooth so far.

I put the into my 97 1500, Dunlop E3, Couple weeks ago, just did a trip to Salt Lake City, 5,900 Km ( 4,000 mi) Ran smooth, I am very happy with the results, I bought a package from the local Kal Tire ,6oz, $12 and I split them into 3 packets to give me the 2 oz measurment, I have the other 2 for the next change, My front tire needs to be replaced after this trip, so a second pacet is going in my front tire
Happy a success with Dyna Beads

I have these in my tires and just love them. I looked through the Dyna Beads web site and looked under a dealer in my area and went from there.
