1993 GL1500 Cold Hesitation

Postby child_of_fire » Tue Jun 21, 2011 11:35 pm

have a 93 aspencade with nearly 92k miles on it. i notice that i get a slight hicup in the acceleration when the bike is cold. seems to be ok after its warm. what could this be? a friend of mine mentioned a idle air control valve inside the plastics near the filler neck for the gas tank. could it be a stuck "flapper" and how do i access this?

thanks.

The gl1500 has carbs so there isn't an idle air control valve. These bikes are cold natured so, depending on what you mean by "when the bike is cold" I'd say that you don't have a problem. Give us a time frame. A couple of minutes or is it longer.

I have owned four GoldWings, a gl1000, two gl1200s, and a gl1500. All of them ran poorly until the engine warmed to normal operating temp. I don't think you have a problem, that's just the nature of the enine.
