Have you checked the vent tubes for the tank and carbs. Mud daubers can reek havoc with these and cause funny things to happen.

Try riding with the gas cap loose. The vent can get clogged and stop the fuel flow. Also the vacuum operated petcock could be defective.

Vacuum operated petcock is most likely the problem. You can bypass it and test ride the motorcycle to be sure.

thanks to all for the information, Here is what i found.
after bypassing the fuel shut off still nothing and seemed like the fuel just wasn't flowing at all. Checked the vent tubes and all are clear, finely i took the cap off the tank and tried starting it up with my ear nect to the fill tube. I could hear the pump running but was getting nothing through the line. PUlled the pump out and found that the fuel line had split and was pumping sime fuel just not enough . replaced the fuel line and it seems to be running better than it ever did. Thanks to every one . We are back on the road and enjoying the summer weather.

Good to hear that you got it all ironed out. And, I am pleased that you reported back. I always like to hear the final outcome of a reported malfunction.

Years ago, while I was driving a pickup truck, it would shut down. The problem was with a faulty ignition coil. When it became hot, it would shut off. When it cooled down, it would start and run until it heated up, then it would shut down.
