Post by zigzag1958 » Sat Aug 27, 2011 12:54 am

I have been smelling raw gas as I ride, I took the plastic off and found a leak on the right carb, Dripping on the overflow tube from just above the tube.
Didn't know if there was a quick fix or do I have to tear the carb's off
This is as deep as I have been on this bike (Kinda scary) I do have a shop service manu. thank god but still scary
Sending pic, the blue dot is the drip HELP !!!!!

My 93 GL1500 SE had the same symptoms. There was a gas odor when I parked the bike in the garage.
This progressively got worse. I changed the fuel filter and rebuilt the fuel shut off, this did not work.
This went on for about 3 years, until I had symptoms as you describe.
I bit the bullet and pulled the carbs and replaced the dried out carb gaskets. The problem was fixed.
If you are somewhat handy with tools and read your manual and take some pics when disassembling, you can do it. Don't rush.
There is also good information on-line if you take the time to search.
Good luck
