Hedalight adjusting knob won't work

Postby gngl1500 » Tue Aug 30, 2011 10:40 pm

I have a 1991 1500 Gold Wing SE. The headlight adjusting knob gets real loose when I try to adJ it up. Is there an easy way to access that area to look at the linkage? Low beam is just too low. Thanks in advance.

My Hedalight (Ha Ha) shines really poorly, My adjuster works and I set it when on High beams, makes it much easier to see results. I pulled the headlight to see how the adjustment works, then at another time I had the whole adjusting assembly out and lubed it and check to see it's limitations, for lack of better words, it is a plastic Bolt n Nut. On my 97 I can adjust the unit out of it's threads. That may be what has happened in your case.
I am installing extra driving lights for the fall season.
Good luck
Bill

time consuming but a fairly easy project. to best see follow procedure to remove inst panel. tricky on vent removal. before that suggest pulling headlamp can see most. knob pulls cable moves plastic L piece to move lamp. see if works w/ no lamp, that's half the fight. plastic may be broken, lamp too hard to move, gummed cable, etc all may cause issues in addition to those mentioned.
