Replacing the clutch on 1999 1500 Trike

Postby pearlgreenwing » Mon Sep 19, 2011 1:28 pm

OK guys, I'm no genius but no dummy either. But how do I go about replacing the clutch on my trike. I have read some of the forums, but none say what needs to be removed to get to the clutch location. I try to do most of my work on my bikes, tractor and commerical truck. But need your help to get me started.

Personally, I'm not familiar with the trike's set-up, but on the 2-wheeled version:

Remove left side covers, from here you can see the slave cylinder mounted to the clutch cover on the very back of the engine/tranny. LOL, you can also see the limited work space you have. Remove slave cylinder, remove clutch cover, engine oil is likely to drain here if you haven't already drained it from the drain plug, remove clutch spring bolts, remove plates/fibers. Reassemble in the reverse.
Keep the rubber side down.
