Newbie Needs Carb Help

Postby War Horse » Wed Sep 28, 2011 11:51 am

Hi all, new to the forum and it seems like a good bunch here.

So anyway, I just aquired a '89 GL1500 A that someone tried to rebuild the carbs on, well the carbs are on the motor but the air cleaner base plate is hanging in the breeze and the air box is missing. I figure to take the carbs off and go through them again, however heres my problem, I had the shop manual for the GL1100 that just went to a new home and have rebuilt those carbs with no problems. Money is a bit tight for the moment and I dont have a shop manual for this bike, I was wondering if anyone had the fuel section for this bike so that I can start to get the parts and installation correct. The parts manual is only so much help. TIA

BTW, I am a 39 year professional mechanic and know the importance of a shop manual, but like I said No $$$$....

Sorry to hear you are going to sell it so quickly. I do not have the service manuals but I have heard that there are free copies on the WEB..

Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for the reply thrashherg, the bike sold this morning on graigslist and I musta gotten 50 people that wanted to buy ! Of course I really low balled the price, but all is good, I have another bike thats my daily rider, its of another brand that might be frowned on in here, but things work out for a reason. Face in the wind, thats what matters..... :P

We are an eclectic group...We do not frown on any other brand of bike...Except maybe Schwinn...
