94 Wing on the horizon

Postby bartrak » Thu Oct 13, 2011 8:18 pm

Looking at buying a 94 Goldwing with 64,000 miles. Does this seem reasonable for this model and what kind of milage can I expect ? It has been pampered to death, serviced regulary hardly had time for the oil to get black before it is changed.

I bought my 89 GL1500 about 15 months ago with only 71000 miles. Its hard to think it's 22 years old by it's looks or the way it runs. Wing owners love and respect their bike, so sure it likely 64k is original milage. Fuel milage could be from 35mpg (65-80 mph) to 50mpg (even 2 up touring mountain side at 45 mph).

What model are they. I had an 85 Aspy and I have a 93 SE. They both had/have things I like and wish the onther one had. It all depends on what YOU like and want!!!!!!!!

Both are SE. I bought the one that had 51k miles it was cleaner and a much nicer bike. It also has a trailer hitch and Corbin seat. I don't know much about them but am learning.

Same here,my 1500 is 20 years old, started its life in BC.Canada, spent a lot of it on the Isle of Lewis Scotland and now lives in Yorkshire UK.overall condition is amazing, and it runs like a dream, also have a 27 year old 1200 and the condition of that one is the same

When I think back it was a good thing my Harley was stolen. Don't get to ride as much as I would like , but my Wing cranks every time and is no where ready for replacement.

I'm looking for several good years of service from the bike. I try and take care of my equipment with regular service as needed.

I bought a '95 Interstate back in January of this year with 76k miles on it.

If I keep the speedo under 75 mph, I consistently get around 39-40 mpg 1-up with a Tulsa tall windshield.

I replaced the timing belts, oil, coolant, rear drive oil, front and rear tires and lubed the drive splines with moly paste.

I then proceeded to ride to New Hampshire, Vermont and then to Lake George, NY for the Americade in June (just for a tune up ride).

Later in July, I rode it to California and back (by way of Utah, Colorada, Arizona, etc.) and it never missed a beat.

If the bike has been taken care of, you will get many miles and years of service from it.

Have tried to tell others that the tall sheild is better for fuel milage. Dropped it to lowert setting and lost 4-5 mpg, and it is not as hot behind it as one might think.

I agree. I rode out to Vegas in July/August of this year and I was surprised by the amount of air that blows through the windshield vent.
