Brake Light Question

Postby Captain422 » Wed Oct 19, 2011 6:54 pm

I have an '88 GL1500. When the rear foot brake pedal is depressed my brake light comes on. If I only engage the front brake lever the brake light does not come on. But, if I depress my rear brake before engaging the front brake, I can release the rear brake pedal and the brake light stays on with only my front brake lever pulled. Does this make sense? And, is this the way it was designed or is there a switch somewhere that needs attention?
Thanks guys you always seem to have the correct answer.

I just had the same issue on my 97 1500 aspencade. Had to replace the front brake switch. $14.80 and about 20 min. to replace.
Easy job. There was another post regarding this if you do a search it should pop up.
