Having just bought a 1988 gl1500 w/o (mom)motorcycle owners manual, I was wondering two things. First, What is the best type o oil to use when I change . The bike has 68,000 miles. Also, what type of coolant to use. Thanks for any info untill i can aquire the mom.

richbeecham,
This site has some excellent manuals available to download free. Look for "Manuals" at the top of the page and click on it. Find the manual for your bike and download it in .pdf format for Acrobat Reader.
In short, the oil recommendations for your bike are SAE 10W-40 Oil (may be different if you live in extreme temperature zones), and a 50/50 mixture of water and Ethylene Glycol antifreeze containing corrosion inhibitors for aluminum engines (silicate free).

Thanks Captain 422, I did find a manual download. It made for some great reading last night.
