What was the first year that had a factory CB?

Postby pearlgreenwing » Fri Dec 02, 2011 12:09 am

My friend bought a 1990 1500 that has a CB on it. But it is not working correctly. Going on Cycle Parts Nation, I do not find any info on any bikes before 1994 having a CB.
Can anyone shed some like on this?

As for the 1500, they came on some of the 88 models. The 89 I had can with one. Should be the same model cb.

Just got my 88 and it does have a CB.The coax is severed under the seat,so I'll replace it before I can test it out.

Thanks guys. Ka4yqi the problems are sometimes it will not change channels, but most of all I cannot understand anything he says, but he can hear me plainly.
Also his FM doesn't work on his radio. Could one problem be causing the other?

Sound like some of the switches on the left side of the handlebar are a little dirty for the cb. Does he have another helment to try on the cb to see if it is the microphone? As for the radio, I dont thik that the cb is causing the fm problems. Wish yall were closer and then we could run a few test and see what would happen.

Had an 85 1200 with factory cb.A can of electric contact cleaner works wonders on these switches that get dirty exposed to outside elements.

We have tried my helmet on his and him on my bike, it is still the same. I will tell him to clean the switches, that would be a cheap fix for sure. If it doesn't get fixed by this summer, I will get in touch with you and we will have to make a ride down there. he lives in La Fayette, which is above Rome.

Have yall had any luck with the radio or cb? I am wondering if it the standing wave ratio on the cb causing it to muf full up. I going to stop here, as my mind will start ramblering.
