GL1500 antifreese leak

Postby bustedwing » Sat Dec 24, 2011 5:30 pm

Posted sometime back about an antifreese leak at the "y" pipe but under further digging found the leak to be at the small hose just in front of the "y" pipe. There are several of these little hoses going to the bottom ofthe radiator across both sides with about a dozon spring clamps holding them all together. Why extra antifreese in these hoses?About the size of 3/16 fuel line.Have never seen them mentioned before.I hope this doesn't mean something bad.

there are ton of 1/4 diameter hoses under the carb, mostly vacuum hoses, should not have any antifreeze in them. Could be a leak from antfreeze hoses from the radiator or area.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

no, these have antifreese running thru them. As a matter of fact one end connects to the bottom of the radiator.

These small hoses go from each cylinder , across to both heads, and to the radiator, I pulled the hose off the radiator and of course antifreese ran out of it.

There is two metal tubes coming from the thermostat housing and going to the head that have "O" rings on them. My 89 had to be replaced. They were dry rotted and leaked. About 10 hours labor. Carbs and intake manifold need to be removed.

There's also two lines that go to the bottom of the carbs to keep them warm.
