Radio reception

Postby Goldwinger08 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 3:07 pm

When I'm out of town I am unable to pick up radio stations (am or fm) on my 08 wing. The radio works fine in town and I have checked the connections and they are good too. Is there a setting for picking up stations that are in the distance?

Some radios have a loc/dist ( local/distant button on the face) you may have it set for just local stations ( ones with best reception ) preventing others from being tuned in.

I looked for a loc/dist button but didn't see one. I checked in the "mode" feature and nothing with that kind of designation either.

You no, I got almost the same problem except when I'm in the city I get lots of interference and outside the city I get better reception.

I have the same problem here where I live .I thought it just was all wings. So I went out and bought a anttena booster it plugs into the anttena wire and then hooks to the battery. I placed my under the seat where your anttena wire is and has a coupler there so I had to cut nothing just unpluged and plug into each side of this unit then found a wire that powered up with the key. seems to really help but still not a 100%. so when I'm way out in the hills I use my MP3 which is connected though bike switches.. hope this helps.. Sally

I don't know about all Wings - the reception on my 1100 is truly bad, and that's just the design and limitation of the technology when it was made.

In stark contrast, the radio reception on my 1500 is amazing, better even than the radio in my truck.

My 86 was as it should be, so I am a bit disappointed with the 08. I'm in the communications business and I know that it isn't rocket science (or shouldn't be)
