...If you're looking for the maps, those are locked to the card serial number. The cards (from Honda or Garmin) can be inserted in any CF card type Wing (06-08 or maybe thru 10 for Canadian). But, the copy of map will not work on another card. Somewhere I saw the 4.60 firmware available, which you can install from any card. Maybe a Google search for "Garmin 4.60 firmware). That would allow you to upgrade to a newer NT mapset, or you can still use non-NT, like aftermarket maps, OpenSource, being one alternative. But, the searches will be problematic, +, any deviation from an entered route will lock the unit up. Best thing is to just order the card from Garmin, me thinks. Even the latest is not problem free. I just use mine to "look ahead".

We have an 06 comfort package, upgraded the OEM Honda Nav card for $200 in 2010. Based on my limited use of the bike, it was not worth it. I think I was more expecting it to be the quality and user friendly version of our Garmin auto units.

I was not able to find any way around buying the card at the time.

Garmin will sell Version 4.60 with NT mapping, dated Oct 2010. They only want $95, but the maps are still out dated. If you search the internet, there are cards available for about half that with maps dated Feb 2012. Even these are not up on all the roads that have been worked on and changed, as first these need to be reported to NavTeq, who then investigate, and follow this with updating, which they then sell to the GPS companies, so Feb 2012 is about as good as it gets right now. A copy of the City Navigator NT disc gives the data to make unlocked maps which can then be loaded with Version 4.60 to get the Navi about as updated as any GPS on the market. As far as just "sharing", well where is the fun in that. I would not mind paying $50 for Version 4.60 and Feb 2012 maps. Oh, wait, I paid $95 to Garmin, and then made my own maps.

P.S.: For some reason, one must have a brand new CF Card in order to load the unlocked maps and have them work. Garmin's card cannot be reprogrammed reliably.

It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey
