Gas Mileage

Postby utgoulds » Tue Apr 03, 2012 8:55 pm

So...fairly new 03 1800 owner. What kind of mileage should I be "expecting". Yes, I know it depends on type of riding and how hard I need to twist the throttle to make it go :D but in general...toss some averages at me. I'm talking open road, cruising, 2-up riding. Thanks for any feedback...

You could expect 35 to 40 MPG if you ride like Honda intended you should, but to be more realistic, the harder you ride it, the lower you will get. When having a blast, zipping around, I get about 35. When the wife is with, I ride more sedately, and get 45.

Thanks for the response. Totally understand performance versus reality! I'm not far off that. Just curious since only had it one summer. Any tweaks to improve mileage...besides wearing lighter weight gloves so my hand isn't so heavy :)

Not really much one can do with these marvels of technology aside from maybe Irridium spark plugs. And that won't get you much - maybe a half a mpg. They really do pretty well for a half ton of motorcycle. These bikes are crotch rockets on steroids to make em bigger - like Schartzeneiger.

37 to 42 depending on the flick of the wrist and Highway w/ or with out city riding. But on the highway at 70mph You should get around 40. Make sure you run a bottle of Techron through it.
