Sound System Not Functioning Properly

Postby Bad Blake » Sat May 19, 2012 9:48 pm

I listen to the MP3 player a lot when I'm riding, sometimes the music is great sounding. When I hit a bump on the road, it seems like part of the system quits working. You can tell the difference in the quality of the sound, hit another bump and the good quality sound returns for a while. If this has or is happening to your Goldwing, I would like to hear of your remedy. I have an '08, with navi/comfort package. Also the sound seem to continue coming from the left side and deminish on the right side.

Are you shure it's not your MP3 or the plug that is the problem.

Last year, prior to wingding, I had a problem with the music stopping when I hit a bunch of bumps. At wingding, J&M replaced the module. I have not had that problem since. Now to temporary cutout. I use an adapter to come from the five pin setup on my bike to an earbud stereo plug. That adapter will sometimes cause the exact problem you have indicated. All I need do is reach down and turn the earbud plug a back and forth turn, and the music comes back. My problem has to do with an intermittent lack of proper connection, and is easily remedied. Because the earbuds are quite expensive, I have not replaced them. Hopefully, some of this info will be of help to you.

Thanks guys, the player works just fine on my Valkyrie Interstate. I will probably be tearing into it tomorrow, Monday, to see what I can fine in the way of a loose ground or other loose connections. Thanks again
