Changed Air Filter...05 GL1800 won't start..turn over

Postby bandaid1998 » Fri Jul 13, 2012 8:56 am

I changed the air filter on my 05 and when I put everything back togeather the motor will not turn over. The instrument lights will flash a little and then nothing. The radio will work sometimes also.

I checked all the fuses and swapped relays but still nothing. The horn will click and the relays click. I believe I have shorted something out because the battery only read 6.9 volts. I have put the charger on it last nite and it wouldn't do anything this morning. Is there a fusable link/wire somewhere that I could have messed up or something else?

The horn will beep with the key fob but not with the button on the bike.

Any help is appreciatted.
Terry

Really silly question but sometimes it does happen. Have you checked that you haven't knocked the Kill Switch on the right hand bar. I once spent 30mins trying to push start my bike as I felt it had a low battery (I was leaving work and no-one had a charger), thankfully they had left before I realized how much of a fool I was.

Sounds like you have missed reconnecting one of the plugs or it is not seated properly.
Very easy to do - took me three attempts to fit everything back together the first time I changed the air filter.

Before you button everything back up try and start it. Save you some time taking everything loose again.

Thanks for the replies...I did recheck and let it set on trickle charger than made sure it started before putting it all back together. I talked to the service manager at Cool Springs Honda and he said it was the battery so I could have shorted out a wire and than moved it. So all is good on the creek!
