Engine noise

Postby cact57s1 » Thu Jul 19, 2012 8:33 am

I just bought a 2006 Goldwing GL 1800 Trike. Had it one day and it started to make noise like a lifter? I took it back and they sent it to a Honda dealer. I just heard from them and they told me a valve keeper came loose and damaged the valve. They ordered the parts to fix it and it will take about a week to fix. Has anyone else hade this problem with their 1800? I have been wondering if this is a problem with this year?

I've heard of this in GL1800's - not restricted to any one model year, but if memory serves, it's seemed to be brand new bikes with only a few miles on them, and the noise appeared very quickly - obviously incorrect assembly. Is it possible someone had your 2006 apart before you got it and didn't reassemble/torque the keeper correctly?
