I recently found a kit for changing the stock headlights on my 2009 wing to HID. It said that it converts lighting to AC and this is better. Does any have any information on this conversion?

A similar discussion has been going on in the 1500 wing section. Remember that the 1800 has a separate light unit for low and high beam, this means you can either replace the low beams with HID, the high beams with HID or both (Twice the cost). HID's take a while to start and warm up so most people convert the low beam to HID and leave the high beam as conventional Halogen bulbs (Not nice to flick to high beam and have no or little light for a short while as the bulb heats up).. I have no idea how well that works, but just wanted to make sure you understood some of the tradeoffs.

Have a look at the review I wrote - the GL1800 version of this kit is almost identical, except it replaces the low beams only: GoldwingHID HID headlight kit
