Installation issues of aftermarket exhaust

Post by k-rod » Sun Jul 29, 2012 12:13 pm

I am trying to install a set of vance and hines monster exhaust on my 2009 wing. I looked at the installation video that they have and i wish that it was that easy to install these pipes. The problem i am having is that when you install the pipes onto the header there is a gap between the heat shield and muffler of 1/8 inch. The muffler will not go any farther because it is hitting the collar on the header at the top leaving a gap on the bottom. T o me it appears to be a manufacturing flaw. In the directions it sais that adjustment of the heat shield may be necessary by loosening the bolt so it can be adjusted. I don't think the shield is meant to move laterally, but i wont know until i gain access to it. Thanks
