Windshield on 2005 goldwing

Postby jbodrill » Sat Sep 08, 2012 3:23 am

I bought my bike from eBay and it did not come with the owner’s manual. The problem that I am having is raising or lowering the windshield. I do believe that I am using the correct controls but nothing happens. Could the problem be a blown fuse or do I need to get a manual for proper operation? I did read online that the 2005s have problems with the windshield getting stuck in the up position.

it's not electric so fuses are non related.

un clamp it with the levers.
jiggle it around a little to free the rubber that gets stuck to it.
grab both sides and lift, you should hear a click about every1/2"
when it gets all the way up you have to "reset" the ratchet mechanism by raising up pretty hard. once it resets you can lower all the way back to the bottom and start again.

st4r50,
Thanks for the tip! I got my windshield back in place. You saved me a lot of cash as I was going to take it to a shop. Thanks again.

GL only when it comes to glass, is so primitive, I'm surprised that Honda is that you can say stupid, ST 1300 - no, BMW - no, you do raise electric windows, but after that, once you set, and you are driving!

Don't be surprised if one day it stops working though. There were a couple of years that had problems with the windshield ratchet but IDK which years. I figure mine will fail one day too.

But I normally don't use mine except to clean underneath the vent and on the dash.

Good luck and ride safe.

glass slide, it's no problem to push it, you have to pull it and push it to the end!
