STARTER SOLENOID LOCATION 2006 GOLDWING TRIKE

Postby ALBEE1947 » Thu Oct 04, 2012 8:41 am

My starter started to stay on even after the key is turned off. The only way to stop it is to unhook the battery terminal. The solenoid is probably stuck.
Does anyone know where its located. I figure it will be easier to know where to start. I know the batter + terminal goes to it, Just want some info
before I start digging. At 65 it's kinda hard to keep getting under the bike.

Thanls

That's odd - unlike earlier four-cylinder Wings, there isn't a single solenoid that can stick and cause this problem. There are actually two separate relays, and both must be engaged for the starter to actuate, so both of them must be sticking in your case:

I dont know what kind of trike you have but Im sure it wont be easy any which way. If you follow the leads off of the battery to the right of the battery depending on the bodywork you may or may not have access to the relays. Theyll be right below the upper frame rail to the right of the battery, On my Lehman I can see them but to get to them I have to work from top and inside the wheel well. Some owners try to notch the body to get access to the relays. I hope yours is an easy one. If theyre sticking the only thing you can do is replace them also.
