I need help please

Postby schiko » Mon Nov 05, 2012 9:15 pm

Hello all,
I'm completely new here, and I don't even know if I'm on the right side of this Forum, but I realy do need help. Here is my Problem.
2 days ago I bought a 2005 Honda Goldwing and everything is fein, if there wouldn't be this noise.
When I start to ride and the whole entire ride, instead I hear my Engine, I do hear a drone and the ride becomes a Nightmare.
It does roars at every speed.
Does somebody has simelar experience with the same problem, or does someone know what it could be?
Please let me know.
I'd like to add something. I rode my Bike with and with out Helmet. My goes is, it could be the exhaust, but I'm not sure, so for that reason I ask here and hope somebody has an idea what it could be.

This may be related....
I bought a 88 gl1500.
The first ride out...well I was glad to shut it off..The droning noise from it reverberated in my helmet so bad I had a headache for 2 days.
The bike seemed to have all it's parts, however I noticed that the triple turndown extensions were not stock.
The PO removed the tips of the exhaust to fit the $150 tips on.
Well, the tips he removed had a resonating baffle in them....Fortunately a fine fellow from this site had a used set....It was amazing how quiet the bike got with the original equipment put back on.
It's kinda like they designed it that way.

you might find a good dealer local and have his best tech ride it under prescribed conditions - wherever its worst - or find a local wing club and ask one of them to co-ride with you either you driving or him -

I had a similar experience when I test rode the used 1500 that I bought. GThe seller had replaced the stock exhaust and it was too loud and seemed to echo right into my helmet. Luckily he still had the OEM exhaust and reinstalled it before I bought the bike.

I talked the last days to a lot of GW driver, and all off them says: "that's the Muffler." So fortunately I found some new stock Muffler on Ebay for $59. They coming from a Dealer who exchanged them for LOUD?? Pipes. I can't wait for them and my Cobra Tri Oval I will sell to somebody who likes to have a loud Bike.
Anyway, thank you all for your help, always ride save and I say hi from Arizona.

Let us know if the stock mufflers fix your problem, if you don't mind.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

Hi,
I installed my new Stock Slip on Pipes.
Wow, what a different. Like day and night. I did not know that the Goldwing is that quiet.
I'm looking forward to go on my first big ride tomorrow.
If you like to have a loud bike, than put aftermarket pipes on it. If you want to enjoy like me, then go with the original stock pipes.
Again, thanks for all your help in this case, and always RIDE SAVE!
