Your paint code should be inside your locking fuel door. I did not think that 2006 had two tone paint schemes. Perhaps the lower you speak of is the powder coated silver on the frame? Powder coating a paint changes it's color slightly. It may be the same paint code. Sorry I could not be more help.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

Thanks for the comment but I don't think even Japanese powder coating could change the color that much LOL
I have now uploaded a pic of the bike as my avatar and the bit I am interested in is between the front footpegs and the front crash bars
It appears to be a continuation of the lower fairing covering the forward part of the exhaust

I have a 2010 Wing and there is only one colour code in the fuel filler lid which is for Pearl Glacier White. I checked in the owners manual and it only mentions the code for the main colour of the bike.

The paint codes for the lower cowl and the exhaust covers for the 2006 are
COWL, FR. *NH168M* (VERNIER GRAY METALLIC)
64302-MCA-000ZA
The exhaust covers use the same paint code.
