Another stupid question about my new bike

Postby miroku800 » Sun Apr 07, 2013 11:41 am

I need to get the screen off to mount and wire my Sat Nav and I have all the instructions but have fallen at the first hurdle
Is there a trick to getting the front speaker grills off
Is there some special tool or a special place to use to lever them up

Many thanks

The speaker grills are part of the complete cover, they don't come off separately.

Many thanks for that, it appears the earlier models were different to mine and I was trying to use the wrong instructions

That is not correct, the black grills over the front speakers (models prior to 2006) just pop off, giving access to a plastic clip that needs to be removed to allow the facia to come off. No special tool is required, I do it by hand, I grip the plastic grill with my fingers along the top and thumb on the bottom edge, then pull the top outwards, it usually pops out very easily..

f you have a post-06 model first lift up on on the dash around the key area. The housing around where the speakers are will pop out. Be careful not to pull it the rest of the way out because there will still be small wires attached to the tweeters. There will be clips that you have to depress to loosen them. The left one has a tab that must be depressed at the 3:o'clock position and the right one at 9:o'clock. I have to use a small screwdriver to depress them as well as the large plug under the dsh near the ignition. This plug can be slid off of its metal stem which will give you more slack to work with to disconnect it.

The change was 2006 as my 2006 you must remove the dash section to get to the speakers.

2006 & up the speaker grilles are part of the meter panel. The whole panel must be removed.
