I have a '03 and it does NOT come prewired. You need to buy a rear speaker harness...I believe Sierra Electronics has them, and it takes a while to install the harness. I just last week installed NEW speakers in the rear, and junked those P.O.S. J&M speakers and installed POLK AUDIO db501 speakers front and rear....all I can say is WOW! Huge difference.

J & M has a complete kit for about $120.00. That includes the wiring harness.

But at 120, that included J&Ms speakers, which a previous poster did not think too highly of. I just ordered four of those Polk Audio db501s to replace the stock speakers on my bike. I only paid $130 for the four. Perhaps that speaker wiring harness can be purchased seperately. I have heard lots of really good things about the PA db501s and I have a full complement of Polk Audio speakers in my home (like six including center and sub) and I like them really well. Here is to wishing myself great fortune in the ones I ordered.

Edit Note: I checked on Sierra Electronics pages and they sell the J&M kit for $95. Perhaps if a person were to contact them, they could obtain just the wiring harness or a wiring harness for about $20 or so, and then a set of Polk Audio db501 speakers (or four of them) from Sonic Electronix for $64.99 a pair, and Bob's yer uncle. Here's to good tunes. Hip, hip, hurray.

I believe that the wire harness can be purchased separately. It plugs into an existing plug under the seat and has to be routed to the trunk lid where the speakers are mounted. Just a little drilling and patience. I originally installed the J&M speakers in the rear, and not even a year later, they were shot. One of the speaker's cone had a crack, and the magnets on those things were lighter than most refrigerator magnets holding up pictures on my fridge. Had no problem tossing those in the trash! The Polk db501's are great!
--EDIT-- OK, I found this connector kit for the rear speakers...

I just bought the J & M set with the harness for my '01 on Ebay for $79.00 still in the factory box. The problem I have is where to drill in the lwr housing for the wires... the instructions just say the indentation but that doesn't help much...
