GPS system 2012 Wing - Question

Postby RoadDawg » Fri May 17, 2013 7:04 am

Hi all....the manual that comes with the nav system is quite complex yet does not really provide clear directions on how to plan a route in your computer and transfer the file to the SD card via GPX and then open it.

I have created a route in the computer....transferred it to the SD card...loaded it in the data slot as instructed and nothing pops up on the screen of the GPS?? I went back to make sure the information I transferred to the card was indeed there and it was so I am in a bit of a quandary....likely another one of my seniors moments???

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

Although I know nothing about the newest version of the Navi in your bike, all files in the older versions had to be in a folder named 'Garmin'. I do not know if this is the problem, but thought it worth mentioning.

Create a "Garmin" Folder then a "GPX" sub folder in that directory. Place the GPX file in there. Go to "routes" on the navi and it will recoginize them and ask if you want to import them.

Thanks for the info....I managed to transfer a route from my computer to another SD card....for some reason it would not transfer to the SD card that was supplied with the GPS unit from Honda? Bizarre.

Yeah, that has been so since the first GPS units. I have no idea what Garmin did to the cards, but they cannot be reused. A new one is necessary.
