No Audio from External Speakers

Postby Noblewk » Mon Apr 19, 2010 10:56 pm

This is my first post on this board.

I have a 2002 Gl1800, Audio and CB. The bike had been setting for about 2 years while I was out of country, and last week I pulled it out, changed all the fluids, and installed a new battery. The bike started right up. Now the problem. I get no Audio from the external speakers, either front or rear, however there is sound in the head sets and the CB transmits and Recieves. When switching from Headset to Speakers, I get a slight pop as if a relay has made contact, however no audio from the speakers. AM, FM, WB, and AUX, Handle Bar Switches, and Combination meter work changing channels and volumn through the Headset. I have checked both of the recommend fuses listed "21" and "22". Any help would be appriciated before I pull the radio and send it off to Komtec Electronic for repair.

Don't know if there is a "Mute" button on 1800's, but if so, is there any chance it's turned on?

Yes there is a Mute, however it is not pressed. The Mute would work in both modes "External Speakers" and "Headset Mode".

Before you send it off, I would pull the shelter (which you'll have to do anyway to get the radio), and reseat the two signal cables going to the radio with the bike off.You can reseat the antenna cable too, but it shouldn't matter.
