LIGHTING UNLIT BUTTON OPTIONS?

Postby vinlugg » Fri Nov 22, 2013 9:37 am

Hi Gang,

The four buttons just above the ignition switch are unlit....I thought I saw, awhile back, a website that sells a solution for lighting them? Does anyone know the website? Have any of you found a way to light those buttons?

thanks

There is a kit from the Electrical Connection but it doesn't work very well IMO...

http://www.electricalconnection.com/other-lighting/01350.htm

I have an idea to improve the lighting by using a piece of clear Plexiglass with the back side painted black but I haven't had a chance to try it yet...

I was quite disappointed with the results of the EC Dash Switch kit but I am going to try something different with it... It will be a while before I am able to try this so don't wait on me for the results...

Thank you, I might be interested in that. Have you installed it?

When I wrote my first reply to this post I was getting ready to go out and didn't have time to look at the EC website. When I visited the website it shows pics of the switches with the LEDs lit. They do not light the lettering, they just shine through the space next to the switch so you can locate the switch but not read it. In all fairness that is what they claim on the website, that you can locate the switches, they never say you can read them.

Well, as I said above, I have actually installed that kit and I cannot see the switches even with the LED's shining thru the cracks in the dash... I talked to Lewis Preston about this and he said that was about as good as it gets... The pictures on their web site showing the dimly lit panel are very, very, generous and most likely due to a long time exposure on the camera...

Like I said in my earlier post, I have an idea on how to accomplish this so it really illuminates the switches, but haven't had time to work on it as we are in the middle of moving from Illinois to Tennessee... When I get the time to do it, I'll post it here, but that isn't likely to happen for several months yet...

Here is another option that I saw on the Wing Stuff site which is a little pricey. Maybe someone else on the board has installed this and can comment.
