oil level

Post by tech1 » Sat Feb 01, 2014 11:52 pm

Hello all
Just serviced my 09 1800 and forgot that it takes a while for the oil to drain back I mean more than a few minutes.
I mean 10 to 15 minutes. Just curious has anyone else noticed this too? I'm not flamiliar with the 1800 lubrication system. I dont see a problem with this except on the road checking the level and needing to have drain back time OR know where it is not drained and go by that.

My 09 takes a while also. I just ensure that I check the oil after I have stopped for coffee or a meal, etc. I did not realize 10 or 15 minutes, but never really checked. I shall check this coming riding season as it is a good thing to know. Otherwise, one could inadvertently add too much and possibly compromise the seals. I have never had to add any oil in the bikes lifetime, so never ran into this scenario. Thanks.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey
