Service Bulletin Question

Postby jackholl » Wed May 12, 2010 7:51 pm

There is a Service Bulletin for 2001-2002 Hondaline CB's exhibiting certain problems. According to the service bulletin Honda will replace the CB. I have a 2002 with some of the symptoms listed. Question: Will Honda honor the service bulletin now in 2010.
Just wondering,
Jack

I don't see why they wouldn't - check first to make sure the service bulletin hasn't been done already. In the service bulletin, you'll see they put a green dot next to the VIN plate - make sure that isn't on your bike already. Then go in to your local Honda dealership, perhaps with a copy of the service bulletin in hand, and don't take no for an answer!

Thanks for the info. I checked the VIN plate and don't a green dot anywhere. I'll go by the dealer and see what I can get done. Thanks again,
Jack

They can usually run your VIN at dealer and see if it was done already. I just had my '05 F150 at the dealer because it was running rough, over $3000 later they replaced a bad fuel injector and a catalytic converter. All of it was covered under a Ford service bulletin and special extended warranty because of fuel injector problems. I didn't purchase the truck new, or from that dealer, and they still honored the warranty. It is also a 120,000 mile warranty on the injectors and I literally brought the truck to them with 119,850 miles on the clock. Sometimes the dealer will surprise you.

You can read the service bulletin:

http://www.gwrra-oks.org/service/sb10.pdf

It specifies that the 'normal warranty applies' so it'll be up to the
Dealer Support people at Honda. Since the bike is at least 7 years out of warranty
(the CB has a 1 year warranty) it may not be covered. Good luck!!

After I read all the way through the service bulletin, I got the same impression.

Thanks,

But... what have you got to lose? All they can say is NO but if you don't ask you'll never know.
Keep in mind that the final decision is NOT up to the dealership. It's up to Honda. It's the Honda warranty, not the dealerships. So, present the problem to the dealership, ask them to contact Honda. Don't take NO for an answer if the dealership refuses. Say you want to talk to 'the dealer principle'. That's Honda-talk for the owner. Then present your case to him/her. It would be a good idea to print a copy of the service bulletin and take it with you.
Good luck!!

Think your out of luck! From the service bulletin:
Normal one-year accessory audio warranty applies. If
you feel special consideration is appropriate, contact
Dealer Support at (800) 421-1900, ext. 1.
Since accessory claims are filed as Parts claims, there
is no Warranty Template Number available for
this repair.
However, there is a number for the dealer to call for "special consideration". You never know!!! Worth a try.
