Is the Nav displaying the map ? Is there any sound/music coming from the radio ? Do you have any control of the radio ?

Have you pressed both the "Audio" button, and either the "AM" or "FM" buttons? That would be the easiest thing that could be overlooked.

Stupid question on my part. When the map is displayed do you see any of the radio icons ? Have you depressed the auto button on the radio to turn the auto on ? I have fallen for that one more times than I want to admit .

Lastly if you press the display button to the audio screen do you see any radio icons. You should see the odometer and time as well as the radio information. If no radio icons on this display press the audio button and see if anything happens.

Pull the radio and battery fuses (21 and 20)for about 5 minutes, put it back in and test. That's usually long enough to reset the radio from its confused state that a low or dead battery can produce.

You have to take the top shell off. The radio comes out with it.

There is a relay under the seat for the amp.

I just remembered something that also might help if you have an MP3 CD player hooked in - pull its cable out temprarily when you reset the radio's fuses. Mine seems to feed enough voltage into the radio to prevent it from resetting, not sure why but I can pull the fuses all day if the MP3 unit is still connected to no avail.

If you need to pull the radio check out http://www.pbase.com/fredharmon/radio

Before you pull all the radio connections required to pull the shelter, I'd confirm the two beasty connectors are fully seated into the radio and see if it works. I had one fail to completely seat and had no left switch pod controlls after I secured the shelter back inplace - note to self double check and power up before replacing the shelter including the FM antenna.

You also might check with Larry at http://www.wingconnect.com/. He upgrades and repairs earlier GL1800 radios but is very on top of his game. I'd bet he has something up his sleeve that hasn't been brought up. He's LarryM on gl1800riders.
