plug behind the oil filter

Postby jr04080 » Sat May 15, 2010 9:42 pm

I've got a new 2008 goldwing trike. I was changing oil the other day and removed the hex head plug behind the filter to drain the oil. I got about 5 oz of oil out of it. I replaced it and than figured out the correct drain plug. Does anyone have any idea what that plug is for. I purchased a 2008 service manual and although it shows the picture of the plug, it does not label it. If anyone has a 2006/2008 service manual, it is on page 4-16.

Any help is appreciated.

It is access to the oil pump's pressure regulator---nothing to worry about, you can put the plug back in, and continue your change as normal.

Someone else on the gl1800riders board did the same thing: ... lug+filter
