I know that this has probably been discussed before but I have a problem. I have an '06 wing that I enjoy riding at night (here in S.W. Fl. it is cooler and there is a lot less traffic). The only problem I have is when I pull up to a stop sign or traffic light and apply the brakes my headlights dim quite a bit. The only added electrical load is my XM radio and I know that that draws next to nothing.

The bike has right at 121,000 on the odometer. Should I be looking to splurge and get a compufire alternator or is there some thing that I can do to mine?

Before you splurge have you put a voltmeter on the battery and determined if the battery holds a charge or is failing to recharge because alternator is failing?

Each cell is 2.11 volts total full charge is 12.6. - 12.7 v

The charging voltage is between 13 and 14 volts. Should not exceed 14.3 v
