GL1800, What's the best year

Postby carnutjoe » Sun May 30, 2010 7:06 pm

Hi, I have a 1986 GL1200 Aspencade with 82000 miles. I'm the scond owner and had the bike since 1989. I'm looking to move to a later model Goldwing preferable one with the best repair record, 2003 and up. I'd appreciate any recomendations/suggestions, Thanks.

2005 seems to be the best from a reliability/recall standpoint---2006+ comes standard with premium audio (front and rear speakers, and a stereo amplifier...definitely a huge improvement over the earlier years)

Another way to think about it is to buy a fairly new one that may still be under warranty, and then buy the extended warranty...you can get the warranty extension for less than $500, and the first major repair will exceed that.

Thanks garevel1, that's the information I'm looking for. Now to find something near me would be a help. Thanks again, good riding. Joe
