Replacing Spark Plugs 1800

Postby wingguy » Tue Jul 21, 2009 10:14 am

I want to change my plugs on my 2006 GL1800. Do I need to take the seat and top helter off to access this area of the bike? Or will the front side fairing come off indepently?

Alan

Looking at the 2008 service manual downloaded from the main manuals page here, you don't remove either of them. You remove the cylinder head side covers on each side (the parts that says "HONDA 1800" on them) and the spark plugs are right underneath them.

Download the service manual for pictures, you'll find the procedure on page 3-8.

Thanks for the info. I glanced at the manual but was in the wrong place. You are right about where they are. I appreciate the reply.

if you think seat has to come off I would suggest taking it to a qualified service center. But if you remove cylinder head center covers you will find plugs

Please, I think we can do without the smart aleck comments. There are other Goldwing sites for that.

i dont think that was being a smart elic. i think it was just a fact. i am one of those who have absolutely no idea of how to change spark plugs either, and to me, that was just a true fact, not smart elic. if one doesnt know how to do something on a complicated gold wing, he needs to take it to a certified mechanic, as i do. keep on winginit rick
