2014 Goldwing No Power to Fog Light cable

Postby navypt » Sun Sep 28, 2014 11:11 am

Hello,
I am new to this forum as I am also a new Goldwing owner as well. Just bought a new 2014 Black Goldwing a few months back. I am trying to install a set of MP3 960 fog lights that are supposed to be plug-in ready. The problem is it would seem that I have no power at my spare outlets under my cowl. I checked fuses on the side cover and also made sure I was in low beam mode. I used a volt meter to check while lights where on at the plug and read 0 volts. Any thoughts or ideas before I head back to the dealer? If I am overlooking something simply I would rather take care of it myself.

Hi, welcome aboard. Have you looked to the manuals section of this site as there is a manual for fog light installation: http://goldwingdocs.com/Docs/Honda%20Go ... -974CB.pdf

G'day, seeing as the bike didn't come with fog lights, did it come with the switch to turn them on and off. I think on the 2014 the switch is on the right side, about knee height. Or if it is not equipped with GPS, then it might be on the left. Probably a silly response by me, but something that might have been overlooked. Good Luck.

I contacted the folks at BikeMP3 and discovered my oversight. The problem lies within the manner in which the directions are written and my assumptions. At the point that the lights were plugged in I "assumed" they should have power and should be working because the next part of the directions goes on to adjusting the trim pieces. I was interested in ensuring the lights were in working order prior to putting any trim pieces or the cowl back in place. After the section on placing the trim is the section that discusses a jumper if a switch is "not" used, this was my case as I wanted the lights on all the time anyway. After locating the last bit that talked about where to place the jumper this was an easy install. I am going to provide some pics just in case anyone else makes the same judgement error that I had.

Remove "L" shaped trim piece, pops out easy with simple pry, start from bottom edge. Then find boot under radio, contains 4-pin connector. Plug in 4-pin connector and reconnect everything.

I assume you have the foglight switch installed, or at least the link that is supplied with the lights. It is powered under the left pocket. The plug may be hard to find since Honda buried it down low.

Looks like you already found the problem. I was a little slow in responding.

If you did want to install a switch. The little plastic square next to your hazard switch is where it goes. ;)
