Trailer Hitch Instalation

Post by vharman » Sat Jun 12, 2010 6:08 pm

Just wondering, before I start to install my hitch and mess up or miss out on something I should have done. If anybody has installed a hitch would it be a good idea or not to use a removable grade of loctite on the bolts, as these will be underneath and somewhat difficult to check for tightness without some dis-assembly. Thanks.

Sounds like a perfectly reasonable thing to do. You certainly wont hurt anything using a thread locker, just make it a bit more difficult to remove down the line should you want to.

My hitch is a Bushtec and it calls for a removeable loctite where the hitch attaches to the frame by the muffler. So, yes. Use a removeable grade of loctite and you should be fine.
