I hadn't seen any replies to you query, but without any solid knowledge I would suggest you look into the hacks that enable use of the NAV system while moving. My 2002 (US Wing) doesn't seem to have that issue, and fully understand the convenience of being able to trim the headlights up or down underway. I've adjusted my lights while moving on numerous occasions but haven't the NAV system as you do. It seems researching the disablement of the NAV buttons while in motion could lead you in the right direction. I haven't the schematics for that year or the NAV bikes. I've never read anything on your issue which surprises me with all the forums I've read, so I have to ask... does anyone's bike you know also have this issue? It would be frustrating for anyone to troubleshoot a fluke that is particular to your bike for some strange reason. In other words, maybe its not a design "feature"! :D

The schematics that I have show that the relay that enables the headlight adjustment is triggered by the oil pressure switch or by the combination meter computer, depending on the model of bike. Those with it connected to the oil pressure switch must have the engine running in order for the headlight adjustment to function. I suspect the combination meter makes it so that the bike must be in neutral, but I don't have the circuit on hand to confirm this.

That said, in either case, we can modify how this functions to override its behavior. The coil ground for the headlight adjuster relay is on a wire that is blue with a white stripe. Cut this wire. If your bike is one that has it connected to the oil pressure switch, then just leave it cut and you're good.

If your bike is one that has it connected to the meter, then connect this wire (the one coming from the relay) to ground.

This will enable the headlight adjustment relay full time, and allow you to make adjustments at any time.

Hi, I am delighted that someone has experience. Lights can be tilted only when the engine is running and the lights světla.Tady is my schema.

The schematic you show actually shows both options. The best way to do it is to cut that wire, and see if you are able to adjust your headlights. If you can, then you're done. If you can't, then connect the wire you just cut (coming from the relay) to ground. That will allow you to adjust them at any time.

Hi Everyone!
I've been reading post in these forum for years but I never posted one due to English being not my first language and someone can laugh at my mistakes,
so please take it as it is.

Let's look at the 2 schematics :
The first one has a relay with 5 post with a NC (Normally Closed contact) and a NO (Normally Open) If the Br wired connected to the NC contact is controlling the
adjuster when the relay is energized the adjuster it's disabled.

What can we do to override that?
let swap the wire Br with the Blk (black) another words move it from NC To NO so when the relay is energized sends power to the adjuster.
By doing so we may cause a problem to what ever the black wire is controlling if the black wire is not feeding another device then we're good.
Another option we have is to leave every wire where they are and put a jumper across the contact, between wire Br and red.

the second schematic show's a 4 post relay , here the only option we have is to put a jumper across the NO (Normally Open contact).
These options will work only if we have power at the red wire (Common) when the engine is running.
I hope these will work for You.

I apologize for this crude explanation.
Aldo

Sorry I have to make a correction ,
I had a second look at the 5 post relay and actually there is no wire attached to the NO contact so by moving the wire from the NC to the NO contact it won't effect anything because there is no wire at the NO post.

I haven't the answer but I was confused. Is this an issue where headlights can only be adjusted while the engine is running? I guess I've never tried while I was just key on and not running/or moving. Disregard my previous input, obviously I didn't have a handle on the question. I'm gonna go play with it now.

Have you tried to move the wire to the NO contact?
