Transmission Fluid

I would like to know how to change the transmission fluid on a 2007 GL1800

you change the trans fluid by doing an oil change. the trans is lubed by the same oil that lubes the engine. its a unit construction not seperate like a harley or a car. the same four qts lubes both

Now in addition to the engine oil that lubes the transmission, there is a rear drive on the wing that has fluid that needs to be changed---on the right side by the rear wheel, there are two bolts---one is a filler cap (the larger one), and the other is a drain plug...remove the drain plug and replace with the fluid recommended in your owner's manual---do not use the same oil you use for the engine.

Also, the drain plug for the rear drive shaft is magnetic, so you should clean out any metal deposits you find in the plug itself. You don't need to change the rear drive oil every time you change the engine oil...follow the schedule in your manual.
