Help my 2002 Goldwing gl1800 won't start

Postby phhegg01 » Sun May 03, 2015 12:41 pm

I have ridden my bike several times this spring. I parked it a few days later went to start it it wouldn.t. It turns over fine. I checked fuses. I switched out fuel and added new. But still no luck. I don't see spark at the plugs nor do i see any evidence of gas.

I am by no means a expert on the 1800....however on all the newer bikes,if there's no spark, there will not be any fuel pump operation.
I suppose the easiest thing to start looking for is why there's no spark...How about the "kill" switch.??Power has to go through it to power the ignition module....There's also (I think ) a "main" relay...when the key is on,the relay sends power to the ignition system...They may click but not actually work.Fortunatly, most of the relays are interchangeable. ..swap the main with the high beam to test.

You should really stick to the one thread, so someone can help you. You have started three threads with the same request for help.. If you reply in this thread with what you have tried, or found out, then we can follow the chain of events, hopefully to a conclusion. Firstly, do you have a service manual? Secondly, did you check the items Virgilmobile mentioned above?
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

I appreciate the input. I have checked and rechecked the kill switch, all fuses, pulled a spark plug to check for spark and/or gas. There is no evidence (odor or damp) of gas at plug nor spark. I have seen reference to an ignition relay and of course the ecm. Jusst wondering where the relay is located
