Hello , I have a 2008 GL1800 with stock headlight low and high beam .

I will like to change that for ( brighter and cool color like 5000K - 6000K ) to increase the brightness , the range and obviously the color too since I have install LED fog lamp and LED white flasher kit .

i was wondering if some people have any suggestion on LED and / or HID ....

Stephan, I have an 2013 F6B and I installed the HID for the low beam. I love it. Clean, white light. I got the setup from CycleMax (shortcut attached). I was going to do the high beams also, but Gary at CycleMax brought up a solid point. When you switch to high beam, you ususally need them right away. HID take just a second or two to be at full brilliance. This could be a safety issue at some point. I decided to install 80 watt high beams (LED Lamps) This gives me a super bright high beam, instantly, and the great visibility of the HID. If you do the LED brights, the standard light plug is wrong. However, if you look closely at it there is an adapter that Honda attached to it. Just unplug the adapter and the LED lamps will fit perfectly. Hope that gives you some ideas.

Might as well forget the LED thoughts, they don't focus in our reflectors and you'll be lucky to not kill yourself at night. Go with a filament design for Headlights, including the high beams. You can still get a variety of kelvin temps (degrees of whiteness) at quality at an auto parts store. I've tried several physical designs for LED headlight replacements with no success. Lower cowl lights are a different matter as you can buy lamp assemblies with LED bulbs and their appropriate and functional reflector. I haven't used HIDs on my wing, as the ones in my truck were electronically noisy and I'm not going to spend that kind of money for so-so gain.

Tom,
Haven't noticed any noise in mine from the HID, but definitely (now that you mention it), see a disappointing hi beam LED solution. Thanks for the education!

I did a lot of research on this and much trial and Error with LED and HID headlamp conversions. Horrible experience with High Beam Bulb access, too !!! Also learned a lot from 2 of my Riding buddies and their similar experience with headlamps.
After much testing, I found that LED Bulbs absolutely do NOT work well with the High or Low beam GL1800 reflectors.

I am thrilled with my final results, which I will share with you all.

Low Beams - H7 HID 4300K conversion Kit $23.99
bought it here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013HZ ... ge_o02_s00
4300K is the Brightest white light. If you go Higher temp (Blue) you get less light and become a magnet for LEO's.

High Beams - Halogen 65W Osram Rallye 64217 (X2) $36.00.
Bought it here: http://store.candlepower.com/osraulhiouh7.html

Best of Both worlds: Super Bright, well focused HID Low Beams and Halogen Bright High Beams that still work with my Kriss Double Eagle Modulator !!.

Hope this saves y'all the trial and error process that I went through . :-)

I haven't tried LED lights, but you cannot use HID on high beams with an 1800. The low beam can be converted to HID and a lot of people like it but the high beam is a separate bulb on the GL1800 and HID lights do not like to be turned on/off a lot and need a little while to warm up before giving maximum light, so it's just impractical on a 1800, every time you switched to main beam you would have to wait for the HID to strike and warm up before you got the best light and that takes too long!! Stick with halogen for main beam, but seriously look at HID for dip/low beam..

Gary.
