Fog lights quit working

Postby Busdriver54 » Mon Jun 29, 2015 3:42 pm

GL1800 2003 fog lights quit working. Any suggestions? I checked the fuses, the plug connector in the faring pocket. I even checked the fog light bulbs.
The fogs always came on with the headlights. Is the switch you refer to the one to the right of the hazard switch? I never realized what that switch was for.

Have you checked whether or not power is getting to the lights? Perhaps a bad switch?

I just got this wing a couple months ago. Fog lights always came on with the headlights. Could the switch next to the hazard switch be for the fogs??

I am not sure for your year, but on my '06 the switch you refer to is in fact the switch for the fog lights.(At least it is on an '06)

My fog lights wouldn't come on. I found it was the relay behind the left fairing was totally rusted it is not waterproof 2007 airbag the relay turns fog lights off when on high beam

That was my thought also, that the fog lights go off when the high beam is on. Have you checked that the high beam is off? By design, the D.O.T. requirement for all bikes is to have either the fog OR the high beam, but not both.

YES! The switch next to your hazard switch is for the fogs lights. Also without modification they turn off when you switch your high beams on; however that can be modified. Lastly the switch will not survive if someone installed 55 watt bulbs - it will burn/melt and fail.
